In the neighborhood
When walking down the Dendermondsesteenweg you will notice a beautiful bright blue façade that is located only a few houses away from Clouds in my Coffee. This is where Alberte, bar hors d’oeuvres, is housing. Alberte, runned by the couple Phil & Inge, is the perfect place to have a drink or cozy dinner. They transform every plate into a true masterpiece. We love and support their vision on eating with friends and their concept of sharing food.
Next to the lovely food, Alberte is also a great place to have a drink. They offer a range of organic wines and are great in picking out some atypical beers you probably haven't heard of before.
The interior is a reinvention of an oldschool pub with a Scandinavian touch. When the sun is out, you can enjoy their terrace in the back.

Only a few houses away from Clouds in my Coffee, you can find the brand new shop ‘Up-Cycling’. Mattijs and Zlatan, bike lovers and city cyclists, are always happy to help you repair your bike or to find you a new one. They attach great importance to sustainability and quality. In short: small, cosy and worth a visit!

De Roos (The Rose) used to be the center of the socialist people’s lives in this neighborhood. It has now become a cosy cafe with a retro interior. The big wooden bar is most definitely an eye-catcher.
Visit this cafe and enjoy a pint of beer, a glass of lovely wine or the dish of the day at a fair price. Every Sunday there is a buffet breakfast from 10am-2pm. De Roos - Wolterslaan 44
Behind Alberte, a mystical and raw building hidden. It's where RIOT is located, a new bookshop initiated by the founders of Art Paper Editions, focussing on new and emerging artists.
Next to selling books and magazines, another focussing point of RIOT is the organisation of exhibitions, performances and book launches in their gallery.
You can check out the upcoming events on the website: www.riot-ghent.org or just go by and discover some rare and unseen books.

When you walk towards the city center you will pass by this unique shop, just 2 minutes away from Dampoort station.
This curiosity shop takes you back into the fifties. Chock-a-block filled with colorful cups and plates, antique glasses & post cards from another era.
The owner Marijke Nys has been collecting ceramics and home decoration for ages. She carefully selects and showcases all her finds in glass cabinets. You almost feel like entering a museum.
In Gent, this shop is also known for its antique Christmas decoration. The handpainted creatures and silver birds will definitely make your tree the center piece of the room.
An ideal shop to buy presents or to spoil yourself.

La Bussola is only 5 minutes away from Clouds in my Coffee and is closeby the busstop.
When entering, you'll see an Italian owner pur sang in a no nonsense framework with the great smell of the Italian kitchen à la mama.
Order take-away or eat a wonderful classical antipasti, pizza, carne or pesce in the restaurant. There is also a tiny chalkboard with daily suggestions. The typical Italian music is always playing in the background.
