The popular TV-series Portlandia has been making fun of the city’s hipster culture for quite some time. Portland was the place to see quirky coffee bars, niche culinary businesses, fixed-gear bicycles and men with beards. What now lives in the big cities all over the world was created in Portland, the city of creative minds.
Portland is definitely high-ranked on our travel list. A city with fine restaurants and shops, combined with the breathtaking nature all over the Oregon state. When you travel to the Painted Hills, you can see millions of years of history revealed in the layers of mountains of earth, one color at a time. It’s pretty easy to understand why the Painted Hills are one of the 7 Wonders of Oregon.

Good Coffee and breakfast you can find at Sweedeedee and Little T’s Bakery.
At Sweedeedee's the atmosphere is very laid back. You can have a coffee with a homemade apple pie, and when the sun is out it's nice to sit outside.

No need to be hungry in Portland, there are restaurants on every corner of the street. The ones that stand out are Luce, Navarre and Angel Face. All restaurants have the same owner. They serve food based in Italian, French and Spanish origin. The specials are based on what is delivered that week along with the whims and interests of the staff.

Besides Food, fashion and nature, Oregan has great museums and art galleries to offer.
Nationale is an art gallery & specialty shop dedicated to the promotion of the arts through exhibitions, performances, and a selection of carefully chosen goods.

The Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals is situated in a mid century modern home just outside of Portland and has an amazing collection of rocks, minerals and petrified wood.
The Museum showcases not only fine rocks and minerals, but also fossils, meteorites, lapidary art, and gemstones from both the Pacific Northwest and all around the world

The area around the Maryhill museum is so vast and beautiful and the art collection is surprisingly good.
There are almost 200 State Parks in Oregon. The Ecola State Park on the Nortwest Pacific is Heathers favorite. It has amazing views and you may even see whales if you are there at the right time.
