Muller van Severen
Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen have been on an inspired quest for sculpturally interesting furniture objects since 2011. Hannes is a great sculptor and is the son of the famous designer Maarten Van Severen. Fien is an artist as well. After her Master's degree in photography, she studied sculpture at LUCA School of Arts. The couple made their debut at Galerie Valerie Traan and quickly attracted international attention. Their furniture pieces can be seen in galleries and museums in Belgium, London, Berlin, Milan, Copenhagen, Paris and New York. The couple's work is minimalistic and material-driven and they describe their designs as 'landscapes for living'. Furniture Project, their 2013 collection, consists of colorful objects such as chairs, tables and hanging lamps. A broad selection of their work has now been collected as part of the new Valerie Objects label, an initiative by Veerle Wenes, Axel Van den Bossche and Frank Lambert. The beauty of and major strenght of Fien and Hannes is that they produce objects that are both visual and sculptural by creating more dimensions in space, as well as in other ways.
